Role: Learning and Development Trainer Contract: Permanent – Full Time based on 40 hours a week (Monday- Friday) Salary: Starting salary of £27,000 per annum up to £33,000 per annum (depending on qualification and experience) Location: Halliwell Head Office, Eccles M30 0QF (Must be willing to travel to meet business needs and requirements) About the role: The L&D Trainer will work alongside the PBS co-ordinator and the Learning and Development Business Partner, Clinical Director and our training providers, +ProActive Approaches, to ensure that all our therapeutic staff are properly trained in the theory practice of positive behaviour support and additional Mandatory and Required trainings for children in our homes. The L&D Trainer will also undertake an assessor qualification in order to deliver and assess the progression of Level 3 learners to support staff to achieve their qualification. You will maintain, deliver, and evaluate an effective and efficient Positive Behaviour Support training programme as well as other Mandatory and required trainings that adhere to the standards set out by Halliwell Homes and by +Proactive Approaches. You will ensure that Halliwell Homes have a staff team who are trained to a high standard in the theory and techniques associated with positive behaviour support. In addition, you will have a crucial involvement in the induction of new staff, shaping our induction programmes and delivering some additional trainings to our teams. Overall, you will promote a learning culture within Halliwell by increasing the level of competency, skills and knowledge through the provision of learning and development activities to support the delivery of Halliwell Homes’ Restorative Parenting® Recovery Programme. You will help shape the way in which new members are welcomed through to becoming established and valued members of Halliwell, helping them to develop an understanding of Restorative Parenting and Halliwell’s social purpose of providing the highest quality therapeutic care to children who have suffered complex trauma. You will also support and assess staff to achieve their Level 3 qualification. Main Responsibilities: To ensure all our home and school staff are trained to a high standard in the theory and practice of positive behaviour support, Breakaways, and other essential training courses for all our children, to ensure the presence of a well-trained cohort of staff. To ensure all staff in our homes and schools are properly trained and educated to ensure all incidents and physical interventions are carried out to a high standard, over and above what is expected for the purposes of Ofsted compliance. To support the execution of a company-wide, continuing programme of continuous learning on PBS theory, techniques, and recording, to ensure all staff retain competency to carry out and evidence PBS to a high standard. To produce learner certificates and relevant paperwork on successful completion of training programmes. To work within the Learning and Development team in order to maintain, deliver and evaluate an effective and efficient training and induction programme. To engage a wide range of teaching and learning centred learning strategies that ensure progression for all learners. To support learners at all stages of the learning cycle from initial training during probation through role relevant mandatory and statutory training to the completion of development programme and further learning such as Level 3 in Residential Childcare. To contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the Halliwell development programme. To maintain effective communication with colleagues and learners to ensure development needs are met. Providing a point of contact for Learning and Development for Halliwell, maintaining excellent communications with key stakeholders and escalating complex requests to the Learning and Development Business Partner. Engaging in a wide range of teaching and learning centred learning strategies that ensure progression for all learners. Supporting learners at all stages of the learning cycle from initial training during probation through role relevant mandatory and statutory training to the completion of development programme and further learning. Maintaining effective communication with colleagues and learners to ensure development needs are met. Maintaining and delivering further training sessions relevant to learners’ roles ensuring legal and regulatory compliance is adhered to. Monitoring and assessing learners’ knowledge resulting from training sessions. Reviewing and applying various learning methods in the delivery of training for example, using various social media platforms, applying various game design theories that accommodate the audience/type of training being delivered. To undertake further relevant training qualifications to become an instructor in a variety of courses for example - Positive Behaviour Support, Breakaways, Level 3 assessor, Food Hygiene, First Aid, Fire Warden. To assist is relevant admin duties that are essential for the team. To attend and complete any training provided or arranged by Halliwell in relation to the role. To assess learners in accordance with professional qualifications. To oversee the quality of teaching, learning and assessment to enable Halliwell to achieve professional recognition for teaching and learning through registered kite marks. To re-evaluate course content and delivery in compliance with Halliwell’s Quality Assurance to promote lifelong learning and practical application of knowledge. To ensure contingency planning is in place to achieve delivery of all statutory and mandatory training sessions To complete all paperwork required meeting audit requirements. To adhere to guidance issued by Awarding Bodies and Halliwell with regard to learner competence, training requirements and the completion of associated documentation. To comply with Child Protection and Health and Safety policies and procedures including the accurate and timely completion of all relevant paperwork and records. To maintain records and documentation for the training activity undertaken and provide reports as directed by the Learning and Development Business Partner. To work collaboratively and gain expert credibility at all levels across Halliwell creating an environment thriving on innovation to maximise organisational performance. Maintain appropriate records of learner development (e.g. through the Learning Management System) to capture the learners progress and track and evidence of training. To develop excellent working relationships with Halliwell customers. Work with Marketing to ensure all literature and supporting documentation is to agreed branding standards. To assist with any other ad hoc duties commensurate to the job role and pay scale, as directed by management. Person Specification Relevant experience of delivering relevant L&D trainings Relevant experience working in residential care Willingness to train to become an instructor in a variety of trainings Willingness to become a Level 3 assessor and monitor staff on Level 3 qualification Experience of creating and delivering bespoke and innovative L&D training programmes. A strong team focus and excellent relationship building skills. Track record in delivering agreed outcomes to time. Strong organisational and time management skills and ability to work as a team Experience of promoting equality and diversity in all aspects of employment and service delivery. Excellent organisational and people facing skills will be required for this role. Effective Project Management skills. Able to deliver, present and facilitate training to a range of different audiences. Strong focus and experience of working collaboratively with colleagues. Demonstrable experience of identifying training needs, developing and implementing training strategies, and evaluating learning outcomes.
