About the role King’s College London is seeking a Learning Designer to support the creation and enhancement of a diverse portfolio of online and blended programmes and modules for The Dickson Poon School of Law, including short courses and degree programmes. This role is integral to shaping an engaging and high-quality learning experience for our students. Initially, the focus will be on developing online content for the short course portfolio. The Learning Designer with ensure excellence through the application of learning design principles; and will collaborate closely with academic staff and subject matter experts to create and refine content, activities, and assessments tailored for effective and engaging online learning. The ideal candidate will be a creative and effective communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment. They must be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, including responding to time-sensitive content design and development requests. This is a full-time role offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract from the start date, with the possibility of extension to a permanent position. About you To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria Education to A-Level (or equivalent) or substantial work experience in learning design Significant experience designing and/or developing asynchronous e-learning content and activities, including the creation of storyboards or similar visual planning tools. Good understanding of the instructional design role, including substantial knowledge and application of learning/ instructional design frameworks, relevant pedagogy for online education and adult learning theory and ability to demonstrate how their experience is relevant to the role Experience supporting students and/or academics in Higher Education. Experience producing planned, project outputs to competing deadlines both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team. Familiarity with how virtual online learning environments, e.g. Moodle and authoring tools e.g. Articulate, can be used to support active learning Highly effective communication skills, including the ability to select relevant information and present complex ideas clearly, attuned to audience requirements and delivered in different formats. Desirable criteria Knowledge of how to design learning experiences to maximise inclusion of diverse learners' needs. Experience with audio-visual elements, from design and recording to editing and implementation £44,105 to £51,485 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance
