We support students between the ages of 8-19 years to gain valuable life skills, qualifications and confidence to move forward in their lives. Spring Hill has a successful tradition of supporting students between the ages of 8–18 with Autism, Social Emotional, Mental Health and Complex Needs, to gain valuable guidance, life skills, qualifications and confidence to support their journey towards independence. The main focus of this role will be to: Follow plans and directions from the Teacher or Instructor Using specialist (curricular/learning) skills/training/experience to support learners. Assisting with the development and implementation of learner behaviour support plans, individual risk assessments and communication strategies. Establishing productive working relationships with learners, acting as a role model and setting high expectations. Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all learners within an educational environment. Supporting learners consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs. Encouraging learners to interact positively and work cooperatively with others and engage all learners in activities. Promoting independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance. Providing feedback to learners and your line manager in relation to progress, achievement and problems. Working with the teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment. Working with the teacher in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons/work plans as appropriate. Candidate Profile: Experience of working with children and/or young people in educational establishment Experience of working with complex needs Knowledge of the Educational, Health, Care Plan process Knowledge of Data Protection Act and confidentiality issues Hold a recognised qualification (NVQ level 3 or equivalent) or working towards this within 1st year Good general standard of education, particularly English & Maths at GCSE Level C or equivalent Strong IT skills L2 Certificate in Understanding Autism (desirable) You will learn from some of the most dedicated and inspirational people in our profession and just like our residents you will be learning all the time through our on-going mentoring and support.
