The post is offered on a 0.5 basis. Applicants for the post will hold a relevant professional qualification in Travel and Tourism related areas to a degree level or above and a teaching qualification to PGCE/Certificate in Education level 5 or equivalent or be prepared to work towards achieving a teaching qualification. A DBS check and EWC registration are requirements of this post. Job purpose To deliver a range of Travel and Tourism subjects across Levels 1 to 3 and to act as course tutor for specific courses. To assist with the co-ordination and development of the travel and tourism provision within the college, specifically industry partnerships and student placements. You will preferably have employment experience in this field. Key responsibilities To provide teaching, learning and assessment of travel and tourism across Levels 1-3. A detailed knowledge of Pearson Travel and Tourism curriculum and its means of delivery, including external assessments. - Assist with the delivery of Literacy and Numeracy skills in the division. - Assist with the delivery of Essential skills Wales and Welsh Baccalaureate qualifications within the division. - To provide support for the quality assurance of travel and tourism programmes. - To provide pastoral support to a group of learners. - To maintain a safe working environment at all times. - To liaise with employers in the field of travel and tourism to develop employability opportunities for learners, including industry partnerships and student placements. - To assist in the maintenance of learner recording systems including tracking documents. - To adhere to the College schedule of assessment and reviews. - To assist with the College marketing and publicity as and where required and attend marketing and enrolment events. - To ensure that all relevant Health and Safety legislative requirements are in place, monitored and regularly reviewed to include up to date risk assessments. When completing your application ensure you demonstrate how you meet these criteria. - To work independently and as a member of a team. - Work on own initiative. - Demonstrate a supportive attitude to learners. - Very good communication, organisational and written skills. - Good digital literacy skills. - Awareness of Essential and Basic Skills delivery and integration. - Thorough grasp of tourism industry and practice. - Up to date knowledge of the appropriate industry standards. - Previous experience of Pearson specifications, including external assessment preparation. - Experience of curriculum development and developing teaching and learning materials in relevant subjects. - Applicants should have good current subject specific knowledge. - Applicants must be able to work under pressure and use innovation in their delivery and assessment within this teaching environment. - Travel and Tourism employment experience preferably. - Course leadership/personal tutor experience. - Relevant professional qualification in Travel and Tourism related areas to degree level or above. - Current teaching qualification to PGCE/Cert Ed level 5 or equivalent or working towards achieving a teaching qualification. - The ability to work in a team is essential; sharing good practice and working collaboratively with colleagues.
