Job Purpose: The successful SEND - Career Development Coordinator will have a passion to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviour of young people so that they can secure a career of their choosing. To assist with the delivery of programmes of study for SEND and high need learners, ensuring the best possible outcome is achieved. To have excellent knowledge of special educational needs and educational inclusion to deal with anxiety and remove barriers to assessment. To be a consummate professional, passionate about people development and focused upon delivering a high quality service to our customers. A flexible approach is required along with a willingness to work outside of normal hours if required to meet the needs of the business and learners. Responsibilities: To interview learners and to complete accurate initial assessments to identify appropriate pathways for SEND / High needs learners. To take an active part in recruitment - attending job fayres, open days, taster sessions. Partnership working with other teams that support learner development to ensure that there is a cohesive plan in place for learners, which is communicated and understood by all those involved in the learning journey To attend and chair EHCP review meetings/emergency reviews as and when required PEP meetings etc To identify appropriate outcomes to stretch and challenge learners. Ensure learner records are accurate and up-to-date so that they meet the requirements for funding and audit compliance. Carrying out off-site visits to learners and their employers (or work experience providers) to review the impact of support measures To ensure learners are provided with progressive feedback in a timely fashion and to monitor learner progress. To be able to identify and deal with any barriers to learning making appropriate reasonable adjustments. Supporting learner wellbeing and implementing practical approaches to ensure that barriers to learner progress are overcome. To support with the preparation of schemes of work, lesson plans, learner profiles and assessment materials as required to assess learner work in a timely and effective way. To cover support of sessions for SEND / High needs learners as and when appropriate To support learners with pastoral care, providing support to the Safeguarding, Mental Health and Prevent teams Identify opportunities to engage learners in community projects and enrichment activities that support health and wellbeing To undertake any other duties as per line manager requirement to support learners across all skills group provisions Person Specification: Working towards Level 4 CETT - teaching qualification, Level 3 safeguarding qualification., MHFA Level 2 Excellent knowledge of SEND code of practice and relevant SEND / high needs qualifications Understanding of effective teaching & learning methods for SEND/HN learners, experience of challenging behaviour To have a positive approach to additional CPD. To be organised, with good time management and administrative skills, and the ability to work independently. Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop relationships with students, parents and external agencies Display a proactive and positive attitude to supporting others to overcome personal difficulties.
