Our Apprenticeship team are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us, to support our Apprentices within different sectors such as Engineering, Construction, Agriculture, Horticulture, Equine, Food etc. About the role As a Skills Coach you will play an integral part in coaching and mentoring apprentices through their training programme, helping them and their employer to ensure they successfully achieve their Apprenticeship. You will build effective relationships with employers and coach, mentor, manage and review apprentices who are based in the workplace, and attend college for training. We are specifically seeking a Skills Coach with experience in the Agricultural and Construction Brick sectors as well as Engineering and Team Leading. Key responsibilities: Support the development of new Apprenticeship Standards and will be responsible for delivering, coaching apprentices to achieve the skills, behaviours and knowledge to successfully pass their Apprenticeship. Deliver learning, training, coaching, mentoring and assessment on work related programmes to meet the needs of employers and apprentices. Carry out initial assessment, interview, Apprentice Skills Scan and calculation of prior learning, sign up and induction of Apprentices and employers. Support, coach and mentor employers on how to maximise apprenticeship development opportunities identifying additional added value qualifications and opportunities for apprentices. Undertake a formal progress review of Apprentices every 10 - 12 weeks, developing an action plan with any apprentices showing slow progress and support them to achieve. The role does involve some travelling and mileage and accommodation costs (when required) are covered. For substantial mileage the College will provide a vehicle. The successful candidate will: Substantial industry experience in relevant occupational area Relevant Level 3 or above qualification in occupational area or equivalent Maths and English to at least level 2, (Old Grade C or above, or New grades 4 or above) Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) (or a willingness to achieve within a specified timescale). A fast learner, with an open manner and good interpersonal skills who can adapt quickly to the College’s operating environment As a College, we actively encourage applications from industry professionals who are not currently qualified assessors.
