HMP Millsike is the UKs first all-electric establishment, a groundbreaking new build that is revolutionising the industry! Scheduled to open in Spring 2025 this cutting-edge Category C facility will not only set new standards in sustainability using 75% less energy than older prisons but also redefine rehabilitation for its 1500 inmates.
As one of the first members of our team at HMP Millsike, you will be instrumental in setting up our training and development programmes from the ground up. You will have the unique opportunity to design, develop, and deliver high-quality training materials and sessions for our prison colleagues, ensuring they meet the latest Ofsted framework standards.
You will be a vital part of the mobilisation of HMP Millsike and work closely with the mobilisation team from Summer 2024 until end of November 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Prepare Content: Create and prepare content for Level 3 and Level 4 assessment and internal quality assurance accredited programmes. Ensuring inclusivity throughout all plans, materials and resources.
- Deliver High-Quality Training: Conduct engaging training sessions on prison sites, supporting learners through their qualification journey.
- Coaching & Mentoring: Provide continuous support through coaching and mentoring to enhance the learning experience.
- Promote Courses: Actively promote training programmes within the prison system, ensuring efficient enrolment.
- Documentation & Evidence: Prepare and maintain documentation for External Quality Assurance visits.
- Monitor & Manage Processes: Ensure high standards in planning, learning, and assessment processes according to awarding organisation criteria.
- Safeguarding & Equal Opportunities: Embed E&D, Safeguarding, Prevent, and British Values throughout the learner journey.
What we are looking for:
Essential:
- Education: Maths and English Level 2, Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Education, Level 4 Certificate in Leading the IQA of Assessment Processes and Practice.
- Skills: Strong communication and time management skills, ability to handle challenging situations, flexibility, respect for safeguarding and equal opportunities policies.
- Experience: Background in coaching and mentoring, experience with external awarding organisations, curriculum development, and continuous improvement.
- Experience in supporting and developing peers, monitoring outcomes, and delivering roll-on roll-off programmes.
Desirable:
- Full Teaching Qualification: Working towards Level 5 or equivalent.
- Experience of mobilising a new contract and or/ developing a department from scratch.
