🧑🤝🧑 About Radical Recruit
Radical Recruit bridges the gap between the most disadvantaged job seekers and the labour market. We support Radicals — people with lived experience of:
- Homelessness
- Criminal convictions
- Disability or chronic health conditions
- Care system involvement
- Substance misuse recovery
- Mental health challenges
- Domestic violence survivors
- Returned veterans
- Refugees
We also represent people who belong to a protected class and should enjoy protections under the law but too often, do not. This includes Global Majority/Black and Brown people, under 30's/over 50's, women, disabled and neurodivergent people and the LGBTQIA+ community.
We believe representation matters and actively seek volunteers who share the experiences and identities of our Radicals. Our approach is about equity, empowerment, and radical inclusion.
💼 Role Description
As an Employability Coach/Mentor, you will play a key role in helping Radical candidates move closer to and into the labour market. During our bi-weekly virtual workshops and occasional in-person sessions, you will be matched with a Radical to provide tailored, one-on-one support.
Tasks may include:
- Reviewing CVs and cover letters
- Teaching the STAR+L framework for competency-based interviews
- Conducting mock interviews and providing feedback
- Having careers conversations to explore goals and opportunities
- Supporting candidates to disclose disabilities, health conditions, or convictions effectively and confidently
🌟 Who Makes a Great Volunteer?
We are looking for people who are:
- Empathetic and non-judgmental
- Excellent communicators who can provide constructive feedback
- Experienced in recruitment, HR, coaching, or mentoring
- Understanding of systemic barriers faced by marginalised groups
- Passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Representing or allied with the identities and experiences of our Radicals
- Have lived experience of the challenges faced by our candidates is particularly valued, as representation and shared experience create deeper connections.
We welcome applications from all individuals who meet the criteria outlined below. However, we recognise that the majority of the people we support come from non-white or Global Majority backgrounds. At Radical, we strongly believe that representation matters. To better reflect the communities we serve, we are particularly keen to encourage volunteer applications from individuals who identify as Black, Brown, Global Majority, BAME, POC etc.
