Position: Senior Lecturer & Programme Leader (Business Management)
Employment Type: ONSITE, Full-time, Monday to Friday, (9am-5pm)

Purpose of the Role:
This role plays a key role in the management, organisation and delivery structure of ESL. Working with the Academic Manager and Module Leaders, you will be responsible for the delivery and development of a particular Programme and the quality of the academic experience for students on that Programme.
Main responsibilities as a Senior Lecturer:
- Provide high quality teaching and learning across a range of programmes.
- Tutor students and provide appropriate support to enable them to achieve their goals and progress towards positive outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of courses.
- Contribute to the production of module/unit specific schemes of work.
- Develop module materials for each module delivered.
- Provide / deliver / facilitate subject specific sessions in line with module learning outcomes and syllabi.
- Mark assessments appropriately.
- Take steps to understand students' learning needs.
- Support students with timely formative feedback to the extent required by each programme specification.
- Mark and provide summative feedback within the prescribed timeframe.
- Ensure that all programme specification expectations of the relevant awarding bodies and universities under which modules are taught are met.
- Produce appropriate module/unit reports.
- Contribute to the School's research department.
- Candidates must lead research proposals and actively engage in knowledge exchange initiatives, contributing to the development of their field and enhancing the research culture at ESL.
Programme Leadership:
- Ensure that the whole team is fully aware of the programme and module specifications and their requirements
- Ensure that the programme delivery team is fully aware of external reference points in relation to standards of teaching and assessment
- Ensure that the programme delivery team is aware of relevant OFS B conditions and that the programme content, teaching and assessment meet and exceed the established thresholds
- Prepare and present relevant programme monitoring reports internally to Boards and/or Committees and externally to partners as required
- Ensure that any changes to the programme are made through the prescribed programme monitoring procedures
- Establish and implement clear academic and assessment calendars for students
- Ensure that clear operational calendars are in place to deliver the programme in accordance with the final specification documents
- Ensure that all assessment at programme level is carried out within the agreed timescales
- Proactively coordinate the effective delivery of the programme, providing leadership to the team of staff involved in teaching and support of the programme
- Ensure that all aspects of the programme comply with the relevant Academic Regulations, policies and procedures of ESL and the external academic partner
- Provide effective communication, guidance and support to all staff involved in the delivery of the programme
- Participate in the recruitment of staff for the programme
- Oversee program performance, including student outcomes, supervisor effectiveness, and assessment consistency.
- Ensure quality and fairness in dissertation/project evaluation.
- Manage the allocation of supervisors based on subject expertise and workload capacity.
- Act as a liaison between supervisors and students to address concerns or resolve conflicts.
- Ensure supervisors provide timely feedback, guidance, and support to students.
Project/Dissertation Module Management:
- Lead the planning, delivery, and assessment of the project/dissertation module.
- Develop clear guidelines for students and supervisors on research
- Coordinate a team of supervisors, ensuring they are adequately trained and supported.
- Monitor supervisory progress and provide additional mentoring or resources as needed.
- Guide students in selecting appropriate research topics and developing proposals.
- Organize workshops on research skills, methodology, and academic writing.
- Address academic or logistical issues that arise during the dissertation process.
- Oversee the grading process, ensuring consistency and fairness across all supervisors.
- Provide students with detailed, constructive feedback on their research
General Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all relevant information is available for internal and external examiners
- In collaboration with staff involved in delivery, organise workshops and other extra-curricular activities, especially regarding employability
- Coordinate and participate in student induction processes, liaising with relevant colleagues to ensure successful delivery
- In collaboration with Student Support and Quality and Governance, ensure Student Representatives are selected, trained and supported in their role
- Support the overall guidance of students through the programme, responding to student queries relevant to the programme where these have not been satisfactorily resolved elsewhere
- In collaboration with the Quality and Governance Team and the Student Support Team, attend and contribute to the Student Voice Panels and ensure that any relevant actions are completed
- Receive comments from the partner and external examiners and ensure that recommendations are implemented where appropriate
- Develop and deliver training on research methodology, critical analysis, and project management.
- Maintain records of student progress, supervisor allocations, and project outcomes.
- Develop and update program and dissertation handbooks.
- Prepare reports on dissertation outcomes, supervisor performance, and program enhancements.
Key Performance Measures:
- Monitor and periodically report on student outcomes for the Module Level, Year Level and Programme Level
- Monitor and periodically report on fairness and transparency of assessments to maintain sector standards
- Monitor and report on performance by all student characteristics for the Programme
- Work with Registry to ensure that attendance on all modules is monitored and managed effectively
- Ensure that students are aware of the NSS questionnaires and that a representative proportion of students respond to the mid-module and end-of-semester surveys
- Ensure that teaching, assessment, feedback and learning resources for the Programme are up to date and continually improved
- Monitor and report on student perceptions of teaching, assessment, feedback and learning resources
- Ensure that retention, completion and progression rates exceed the percentage thresholds set by the OFS
- Organise review of academic performance meetings for students at risk of withdrawal
- Timely allocation of supervisors and resolution of issues.
- High student satisfaction scores for the dissertation experience.
- Supervisor satisfaction and engagement.
Essential Requirements:
- Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years' teaching experience at higher education level, demonstrating sustained excellence in teaching practice.
- Master's degree in a relevant subject area
- PhD in relevant subject area (or near completion)
- Native speaker of English or, if not, current IELTS 7.5 Academic Certification
- Proven ability to prepare and oversee the implementation of programme development plans and to evaluate the work of colleagues
- Ability to communicate with senior education professionals
- The ability to establish and maintain effective teacher/learner relationships with students
- A highly developed understanding of the demands of maintaining good intercultural, interpersonal and relationship skills.
- High level of communication and presentation skills
