Your Opportunity
A risk and compliance officer provides advice to various stakeholders within an insurance company on the various legal and regulatory rules they must follow – such as those about data security or preventing money laundering.
Our UK Compliance Apprenticeship is a great opportunity to start a career with one of the world’s top insurance companies.
Your role could involve:
- Identifying and analysing risks and compliance issues
- Undertaking risk analysis to identify areas where risk can be mitigated to ensure we remain fully compliant
- Preparing information in the form of reports for stakeholders
- Undertaking compliance and risk research activities
- Delivering risk and compliance projects
- Supporting regulatory correspondence and requests for information
- Using digital technology in the management of risk and compliance
You’ll work in the Compliance Governance & Operations and Assurance teams, providing administration and technical support to keep our operational processes running smoothly.
The length of the apprenticeship depends on your course and provider. We’ll make sure you get plenty of support for your studies alongside your permanent role.
What can I look forward to?
During your apprenticeship you’ll:
- Develop your analysis and problem-solving skills
- Learn about the legal and regulatory frameworks relative to the insurance industry
- Understand how to plan and organise workloads to meet both personal and team performance targets.
- Identify ways to reduce and mitigate incidents of non-compliance
- Manage records to meet audit requirements
- Identify your own training needs and seek feedback to improve your performance and the service you deliver
- Learn how to keep up to date with relevant legal, regulatory and other changes affecting the industry
- Develop, build and maintaining tools to support our automation and continuous improvement journey
You'll also work with the Compliance team and talk to internal Management and external third parties when needed.
The role is interesting and challenging, giving you the chance to gain broad experience. Working as part of a global business, you’ll help ensure we meet all our legal and regulatory requirements by managing our exposure to all types of compliance risks.
Alongside your day-to-day work, you'll also complete a Level 3 Compliance and Risk Officer Apprenticeship as well as an insurance industry recognised Certificate in Insurance via the Chartered Insurance Institute. This takes 18 months to complete. In addition to investing in your learning, we give you time to study as well as the opportunity to put what you learn into practice.
