What You Will Enjoy Doing
- Working within a busy, fast-paced production environment, we are seeking a skilled Grinder/Turner who will be responsible for leading the cell & machining components in accordance with manufacturing instructions and drawings
- You will be responsible for the planning and monitoring of the Finishing Cell utilising experience and knowledge to address challenges and be proactive with solutions
- Regularly communicating with the Management Team to identify risks to plans and opportunities to exceed
- Collaborate on the development of training practices & monitor a program of cross-training to diversify the skill levels already present within the cell
- You will be responsible for strict adherence to internal specifications and procedures
- Setting and operating conventional and CNC machines is a critical aspect of this role but it will also involve flexibility to work in other areas of the plant
- You will carry out dimensional checks using defined metrology equipment as well as ensuing all equipment is used correctly and in satisfactory working condition, ensuring timely reporting of any faults
What Makes You Great
- You will have ideally completed an apprenticeship in a tool making / machining discipline (or equivalent experience) and/or will have a good knowledge and understanding of machine shop practices
- You will be able to understand and interpret engineering drawings, and you are able to use appropriate measuring equipment related to specific drawing requirements
- You will have some experience in a leadership position in a similar field
- Ideally you will have experience in cylindrical, centerless and surface grinding to tight tolerances
- Experience in aerospace or other safety critical industries would be an advantage
