Job Purpose: The University of Cumbria is seeking dedicated and knowledgeable End Point Assessors to join our team. You will be responsible for conducting End Point Assessments (EPAs) for apprentices enrolled in the Professional Forester Degree Apprenticeship programme. This role involves evaluating apprentices' knowledge, skills, and behaviours to ensure they meet the required occupational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct End Point Assessments, including reviewing project reports, presentations, and portfolios in line with the EPA plan.
- Assess apprentices against the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSBs) as per the End Point Assessor Organisation's guidelines.
- Record and report assessment outcomes in a timely manner.
- Travel to university campuses and sites as necessary (likely Ambleside).
- Engage in internal and external quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate with colleagues and liaise with university staff, apprentices, and employers.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Competence to assess apprentices at this level with relevant qualifications and experience.
- Recent experience in the forestry sector at least to occupational level 6.
- Holding or working towards an assessor qualification.
- Active professional membership with The Institute of Chartered Foresters at the Professional Membership level (MICFor).
- Understanding of the occupational standard and EPA requirements.
- Experience in supervising and assessing forestry students/professionals.

Time Commitment: We are seeking a small bank of professionals and expect to allocate our cohort of learners across these assessors. We plan to conduct the assessments in two parts, phase one is the professional discussion based on the apprentice's portfolio, with the apprentice presenting the plan at the end of the 12 weeks. In addition, each assessor will need to commit to corporate training, programme induction and post-assessment moderation meetings.
Assessors will need to be available across the following periods:
Welcome, Induction and Training – mid-March to early April
Professional Discussions (Part 1) - May (online)
EPA Presentation & Discussion (Part 2) - early August (either online or on campus)
We are working on 2 days of collective training, and preparation including online pre-EPA meetings. We have allocated a 1.5 days per apprentice to prepare and conduct the two EPA interviews (each being 60 minutes).
Remuneration Assessors will be offered a day rate of £300 per day
