Job Role: Art & Design Lecturer

We are seeking a creative and passionate Art & Design Lecturer to join our team in Paddington, Westminster. This exciting role offers the opportunity to teach and inspire students across a variety of art disciplines, including fine art, graphic design, sculpture, and photography. As an Art & Design Lecturer, you will encourage students to explore their creativity, develop technical skills, and prepare them for careers in the arts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning & Delivery: Design, prepare, and deliver dynamic lessons in a variety of art and design subjects, ensuring content is engaging and relevant to the current curriculum.
- Assessment & Feedback: Create and administer assessments to monitor student progress, offering constructive and supportive feedback to enhance their skills and academic growth.
- Student Support: Provide tailored support to students, helping them to refine their artistic abilities and navigate their personal artistic journey.
- Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the art & design curriculum, ensuring it reflects both current trends in the art world and industry standards.
- Practical Sessions: Supervise and guide students through practical sessions, encouraging creativity while ensuring proper techniques and safety measures are adhered to.
- Classroom Management: Maintain an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment, fostering student participation, critical thinking, and artistic expression.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- A degree in Art & Design or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- A relevant teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- Proven experience teaching art & design, ideally within Further Education or higher education settings.
- Strong technical knowledge of various art & design media and methods, including but not limited to painting, drawing, graphic design, photography, and sculpture.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- A passion for art & design and the ability to inspire students to pursue their artistic passions.
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
- Experience working with industry-standard software and tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to integrate real-world examples, exhibitions, and contemporary art practices into lessons.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and student needs.
- A proactive, student-centred approach to teaching and academic support.
- Knowledge of current developments and trends in the art & design industry.
