Harrogate College is looking for a Functional Skills Maths and English Tutor to join the apprenticeship department.
This will involve creating an agile delivery model for learners that attend lessons in college and those based in the work place.
The apprenticeship team work with a broad variety of vocations and employers across North Yorkshire. This roll is to support learners to complete functional skills qualifications and fulfill their potential completing their apprenticeship.
What You Will Do
You will plan and prepare teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans including the development of online learning resources for Functional Skills Maths & English.You will maintain and update knowledge of the subject and/or vocational area.You will motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.You will reflect on what works best in facilitating teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students.You will facilitate inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.You will assess student work, provide constructive and timely feedback to motivate and inspire the learner to improve and record learners’ progress for identified modules.You will Implement positive interventions where needed, for students undertaking identified modules.You will develop and strengthen relationships with learners and provide support to ensure successful outcomes.
About You
Educated to at least NVQ3 or equivalentEnglish and Mathematics at least Level 2 or above or a willingness to improve in 1 or both disciplines to a level 3 or above.Experience of working with SEND studentsGood knowledge of facilitating the delivery of Literacy and NumeracyUnderstanding of the job preparation process and strategies to assist to support and develop SEND students with Maths and EnglishStrong ability to develop effective relationships with students, parents and carersAble to work in a team sharing responsibilities and duties

This will complement the college’s existing tech centre which is home to its motor vehicle, electrical, joinery and welding workshops.
