South Farnham Educational Trust, in partnership with South Farnham SCITT, is seeking apprentice teachers to join our wonderful team for September 2025. Secondary Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeships are available in a variety of subject specialisms across our two secondary schools:
•Brighton Hill Community School, a popular, over-subscribed and thriving secondary school based in Basingstoke, Hampshire. This 11 – 16 school has grown from 502 to 1,292 pupils in six years; the school's recent 'Good' OFSTED Inspection contained three 'Outstanding' grades within it
•The Blue Coat School, Basingstoke, a secondary school with 400 years of rich history, for pupils aged 11 to 16 years, rapidly growing under dynamic new leadership since joining SFET.
The one-year Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship (PGTA) provides a unique opportunity to earn a salary while you train for your teaching qualification and make a real difference to pupils’ lives.

•Pay no fees and earn while you learn: Begin your teaching journey on the Unqualified Teacher Pay Scale while gaining the Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) qualification.

•Hands-on experience: Work with experienced educators four days a week in the classroom, fully immersing yourself in the teaching experience. Spend the remaining day in structured training with other programme members.

To become an apprentice teacher, you will need:
•GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4 (C) or above in English and maths (and science if you want to teach primary)
•a degree (this does not have to be in education)
•to be eligible to live and work in the UK for the duration of the programme
An important first step towards becoming an apprentice teacher is to secure a school to employ you for the duration of your apprenticeship training. If your application to us is successful, South Farnham Educational Trust will support you with your teacher training application to South Farnham SCITT (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training).
