Occupational Health and Safety Trainer
Role Overview
The Occupational Health and Safety Trainer will primarily deliver our industry-leading training programs to a diverse range of delegates. The training curriculum encompasses various subjects, including:
- Risk Assessment and Safe System of Work
- Behavioural Safety Interactions and Safety Tours
- IOSH Working Safely and Managing Safely
- Safety Inspections
- Quarries Regulations Awareness
- Geotechnical Awareness
- Contractor Management
All training sessions are designed to be highly interactive and engaging, typically delivered without the use of PowerPoint. This approach enhances the learning experience, making it more thought-provoking and memorable.
In addition to delivering training, the Trainer will contribute to the development and enhancement of our existing safety programs. This includes designing and implementing e-learning and online delivery platforms.
Travel Requirements
The role involves extensive travel throughout the United Kingdom and potentially beyond on a long-term basis. This may necessitate overnight stays away from home.

The Trainer will receive extensive personal and professional development opportunities to maintain their qualifications. This may include pursuing additional training to enhance their assessor and teaching qualifications.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong demonstrable competency within the Mineral Products sector, ideally with experience in multiple disciplines. Key skills required include:

- Influence and Leadership: Ability to influence at various levels.
- Organizational and Self-Motivation: Highly organized and self-motivated.
- Professionalism and Integrity: High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Computer Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel throughout the UK without significant challenges, including overnight stays on a regular basis.
- Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, both internally and externally, to effectively resolve issues.
- Exhibit the ability to plan and meet tight deadlines consistently.
- Maintain a commitment to continuous professional development and skill enhancement.
Ideal Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Membership in IOSH or active pursuit of membership
- Recognized teaching qualification
- Certificate in assessing vocational qualifications
Job Package:
- Starting salary of up to £45,000 per year for the right candidate with the required competencies to commence training delivery. Candidates without the necessary skills may expect a lower starting salary, with potential for salary increases based on performance.
- Opportunity to earn a financial bonus for generating new business; this will be calculated on a project-by-project basis.
- Business mileage rates at current HMRC levels for all business travel. Use of trains and other transport methods is strongly encouraged and fully reimbursed.
- Participation in the contributory pension scheme and provision of 22 days of paid holiday leave, including statutory holidays.
- Work location will be determined during the interview process, with options for the Torworth office or home-based work.
- Company mobile phone, laptop/iPad, and reimbursement for relevant professional memberships (e.g., IOSH, IQ) will be provided.
- Regular formal performance reviews, in addition to role-specific objectives, will be conducted at a minimum of every three months.
- It is anticipated that successful candidates will achieve or be very close to achieving IOSH Trainer approval within the first three months of employment.
