Electrical Assessor £31,000 - £36,000 Part-time or Full-time Clarkson Evans is the largest electrical and solar installer working in the new build housing sector, wiring over 24,000 homes a year. Established over 40 years ago, we now employ more than 850 staff across the UK and we work with the country’s major house builders. Training apprentices is a core part of our ethos. Through our award-winning in-house training we’re proud to be continually developing newcomers to the electrical industry. The Role We’re interested in hearing from qualified electricians, either with or without assessing experience, who’d like to play an important role in helping our apprentices achieve their qualifications. For those looking to come ‘off the tools’, full training will be provided. Working as part of a training team of 24, including six other assessors, you’ll be allocated a ‘case load’ of apprentices to guide through the performance elements of their Level 3 Diploma. This key part of an electrical apprenticeship demonstrates a person’s competence and it will be your role to assess this by visiting them on site and reviewing the written evidence they submit to their e-portfolio. The apprentices we train are based out of 21 branches working on housing development sites across much of England and south Wales. Willingness to drive long distances and to spend one day a week working alongside your colleagues at our Gloucester head office is essential. Flexible working hours are available for this role with both full and part-time candidates considered. Full time working hours will be 39 hours a week, based on 8 hours a day Monday to Thursday and 7 hours on Fridays, with an hour for lunch each day. The safeguarding of our apprentices is of paramount importance to us and therefore all candidates must provide 2 references. Successful applicants will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as the Criminal Records Bureau) check before taking up the position. Requirements Qualified electrician (JIB Gold Card standard) with at least three years’ experience A well-organised, tenacious approach, with the ability to manage your own workload A positive, ‘can-do’ attitude Strong communication skills, particularly when dealing with young people Good IT skills (MS Word, Outlook & Internet) If you are not already a qualified assessor, we’ll support your training as you complete the Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment. It is expected that you’ll be able to achieve this within six months by gathering appropriate evidence to complete a portfolio of your own. You’ll be issued with a small company van, iPad, company mobile phone and uniform as part of the role. Salary will depend on experience but the top end of the salary range advertised would apply only to someone who has worked in a previous assessing role. Clarkson Evans is an equal opportunities employer and we’re proud of our fair and inclusive recruitment process. We recognise the benefits of having a diverse workforce and welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds. If you have any special requirements which would help you with our application process, please let us know by emailing jobs@clarksonevans.co.uk.
