The purpose of the mentor role is to provide holistic support for learners who have a range of educational support needs including social, emotional and mental health and behavioural barriers. The learners will have an Education, Health and Care Plan or other SEND need and require a range of types of support, such as an individualised plan, in class and exam support, regular 1:1 meetings to discuss and agree an action plan, direct working with the mentor, meetings to review of progress towards targets, etc. Learners may be 16-18 or adult learners. The successful applicant will have an encouraging and supportive nature, be resilient in their approach and able to work with learners in a small group or 1:1. They will be able to positively influence learners to overcome their individual challenges. They will have a good knowledge of support in a further education college.
