At our ARU Writtle campus, we specialise in animal, environmental, agricultural and horticultural courses, for learners aged 16 to 18, adult learners, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Writtle College is nestled in the Essex countryside, and our 150-hectare campus features beautiful landscaped gardens, and state-of-the-art facilities. Our campus is home to specialised teaching spaces, focusing on animal, sport, environmental, agricultural and horticultural studies in our Further Education provision. We offer a mix of practical, and classroom-based learning, allowing our students to gain qualifications, and prepare for a rewarding career in their chosen field.
About the role:
Joining our busy Learning Support team and liaising with staff across Writtle College, you will provide a professional learning/study support service to FE learners with identified additional support needs, including those with specific learning difficulties and/or disabilities and those with lower levels of literacy and numeracy.
These roles involve working with a caseload of learners in Further Education providing in class, small group and/or one to one out of class support. You will be required to screen, assess and review learners’ needs, as well as set and monitor appropriate individual goals. You will also act as a reader, scribe or invigilator for learners with exam access arrangements.
You must be qualified to a minimum level 3 standard, with a level 2 qualification in English and Maths. You must have a good understanding of disabilities and learning difficulties and the barriers young people and adults may face in accessing and participating in learning. Ideally you would have previous experience of having worked directly with learners with additional support needs.
We have various full time, and part time roles, working 38 weeks per year available within the team. When making your application please clearly indicate how many hours you wish to apply for.
