The School is home to our two Discipline areas of Psychological and Behavioural Sciences (PBS) and Professional Psychological Practice (PPP). As a TEF Gold institution we put student experience at the heart of all of our activity.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div> <div> <div> <div> About the role </div> <div> <div> <p>As Lecturer in Psychology you will contribute to the delivery of a range of modules across our undergraduate and postgraduate provision, with a particular focus on core areas recognised by the British Psychological Society. The role will include supporting our marketing events (e.g., open days) and outreach (e.g., school visits) which occasionally take place into evenings and at weekends.</p> <p>The School of Psychology has an active research agenda, and you will have the opportunity to engage with and support financially sustainable research and/or other appropriate academic activity, contributing to the research profile of the School of Psychology. Whilst we are back to full campus delivery and activity, there will be opportunity for working from home as agreed with the Head of Discipline. We do support hybrid working as business needs permit. This is a full-time position but we will consider part-time work, if desired.</p> <p>The anticipated interview date will be 22nd November 2024.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div> <div> <div> <div> About You </div> <div> <div> <p>You will have some experience of teaching a range of modules in psychology and you will be actively pursuing your own research. We are particularly seeking candidates with knowledge of biopsychology and/or cognitive psychology, but will also consider other areas of expertise. Experience of curriculum design would be beneficial but is not essential. You might hold FHEA or have other teaching experience, but should be familiar with the HE context and its requirements. Excellence in communication, team and collaborative working are essential, both internally and externally.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div> <div> <div> <div> Principal accountabilities </div> <div> <div> <h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b> Learning / Teaching</b></h3> <div> <ul> <li>Effectively teach and facilitate learning on a range of subjects / modules within the subject area on undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and post-experience programmes.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Ensure that knowledge from research and scholarly activities informs and enhances learning and teaching, as well as extending it to appropriate external activities such as knowledge transfer activities.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Ensure that module / programme design and delivery comply with the quality standards and regulations of the University.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Participate effectively in the assessment process, including the setting, marking and moderation of student work, providing constructive feedback and ensuring it is in accordance with quality assurance procedures.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Participate in the continuing review and development of module/programme delivery, incorporating innovative study modes, learning environments and pedagogic practices to engage and stimulate students, deliver effective learning outcomes and develop the skills and attributes of the ‘Derby Graduate’.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Take on relevant module leader and/or programme leader responsibilities, including associated marketing, recruitment, delivery and ongoing programme development projects that are consistent with the College, and contribute to influencing leading edge practice in the University and contribution to the REF.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Sustain and enhance the reputation of the University by publishing in appropriate quality journals and presenting at scholarly activities such as workshops, conferences and other similar events.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Develop and maintain contacts and relationship with relevant professional, research and industrial organisations.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Contribute to writing bids for externally funded research projects.</li> </ul> </div> area, for example by publication or through appropriate professional achievement or willingness to work towards within an agreed timeframe</li> <li>Subject specific qualifications / knowledge</li>
