About the role
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Learning practitioner in SEND to join our ambitious team at Northumberland College. We are looking for someone with relevant SEND experience who is eager to impart their knowledge and ignite enthusiasm for learners based at a land-based college where we deliver animal care, equine care, horticulture, agriculture and catering. Joins us as and play a pivotal role in our inclusive education approach.
This fixed term role is based at Northumberland Colleges’ Land-based campus sited at Kirkley Hall, Ponteland. As a SEND learning practitioner you will have the benefit of utilising our working livestock farm, natural environments of the Kirkley estate and a modern purpose built SEND facility which includes catering, life skills and sensory room. You will work with students who have a range of special educational needs and disabilities, providing individualised support and adapting your teaching methods to cater to their unique learning requirements. Your role will contribute to creating an environment where every student feels valued, empowered and able to reach their full potential.
About the Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced, committed, and passionate individual with a strong SEND background and knowledge. They will teach programmes including RAPA and L1 qualifications. The successful candidate will have level 2 qualifications in English and maths and ideally SEND related qualifications. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and show flexibility and adaptability in responding to students’ changing needs. A teaching qualification is not essential, however the commitment to work towards a teaching qualification is a requirement of the role.
