DN Colleges Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Additional Learning Support (ALS) Lecturer Team Leader. This role involves leading the ALS Specialist Tutors Team and Student Disability Officer to ensure high-quality provision is delivered across our campuses. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students with learning difficulties and disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary support to succeed.
Scope And Purpose
As the ALS Lecturer Team Leader, you will oversee the delivery of screenings, access arrangement assessments, and specialist support in partnership with curriculum areas. You will support a team of staff, enabling them to deliver an outstanding student experience, and carry a reduced teaching/assessment caseload. Your role will involve monitoring data, attending relevant meetings, and ensuring compliance with college policies and procedures.
Essential Criteria
- Degree in a relevant area or equivalent experience.
- Teaching/Training Qualification and FE teaching experience.
- Relevant Level 7 qualification to assess for access arrangements.
- Experience of teaching individualised ALS study skills programmes to students with SpLDs.
- Experience of carrying out assessments for Access Arrangements.
- Experience of screening for SpLDs and advising students on outcomes.
- Ability to motivate and inspire a staff team.
- Knowledge of funding streams for FE, Apprentices, AEB, and HE support.
- Innovative, flexible, and creative approach to problem-solving.
- Commitment to developing an open, honest, and respectful culture.
- Strong organisational skills and high aspirations.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead the ALS Specialist Tutors Team and Student Disability Officer.
- Support staff in delivering high-quality provision and carry a reduced teaching/assessment caseload.
- Maintain an agreed teaching commitment.
- Monitor data including attendance for 1:1 sessions, Equality and Diversity, funding streams, and compliance.
- Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and performance reviews.
- Engage with marketing activities to support area promotion.
- Ensure adherence to College policies and procedures.
- Support staff performance appraisals and professional development.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders in planning and delivering College provision.
