The Associate Lecturer role suits the needs of candidates teaching alongside other work commitments, or for those who may wish to enter the role of teaching in Further Education on a full-time basis. If you have considered moving into the realms of teaching within your industry specific subject specialism, the Associate Lecturer role may be an appropriate initial pathway. The roles of a Welder can often include a multitude of skills. Examples of these skills could include a demonstration of a weld procedure to an apprentice or possibly explaining weld diagrams to a customer. These embedded skills include some of the fundamental approaches when teaching.
Our team currently includes a number of Associate Lecturers who teach on varying bases. These range from teaching alongside their work commitments in industry, teaching in addition to owning their own business and teaching to support early retirement.
The successful candidate will hold a level 3 or equivalent qualification in welding with experience of working in a welding business environment. You will need good inter-personal skills with a keen interest in understanding student-centred learning & the ability to develop effective working relationships with students and staff.
