Contract Type: Up to 30 hours per week, 34 weeks per year (Term Time Only), Fixed Term to 31 July 2025
Location: Paignton, Devon
We are recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join our Learning Support Team to provide support to staff and learners in order that all High Needs Learners have access to the curriculum, achieve on their study programme and fully participate in the life of the college. This post reflects the changes made by Government and Ofsted in recognising the additional levels of support needed by High Needs Learners. The support needs and Outcomes of High Needs Learners will be detailed on an Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and the role of the Learning Support Assistant is central in supporting the learner to fulfil their needs and statutory outcomes.
As well as vacancies available at our Paignton site, we would also welcome applications for a vacancy based at Newton Abbot campus on the Brunel Industrial Estate.
We would also be interested to hear from applications who are keen to work in and around our successful lodge provision, a dedicated space and service to support students enrolled on full time courses across South Devon College who have an Autistic Spectrum Condition.
The successful candidate must have GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/Level 4, or Level 2 equivalent, or be prepared to undertake qualifications within the first year of employment.
Previous experience of working in learning support/coaching is essential, excellent verbal/written communication skills, coupled with a patient and approachable disposition.
