York Learning are an adult learning provider committed to providing high quality education across the City of York. York Learning work with a range of learners from aged 16 right up to 100+ over a broad range of provision. This post is aimed at the provision for 16-18 young adult learners.
A vacancy has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Learning and Skills Tutor to teach Functional Skills English and Maths on our Post 16 Foundation Learning Programme, Routes2Success.
Delivery is primarily entry level English and maths but may cover up to Level 1 and 2. The role is also responsible for embedding numeracy and literacy skills within the Life Skills curriculum.
The main responsibilities of the role will be to
plan, develop, teach and assess the Functional Skills English and Maths and Life Skills curriculum. Differentiating and adapting learning programmes to support and meet the needs of learners aged 16-19 and up to 25 for those learners with an Education and Health Care Plan. Ensuring learner, organisational and funding targets are met.
You should have knowledge of the curriculum and experience of teaching Functional Skills English and Maths to young people.
Experience of teaching and supporting learners with additional needs and those who are vulnerable and have complex SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs is essential.
This post is front facing, located at Winterscale House, Winterscale Street, York.
This post is fixed to 2 days a week, Monday and Wednesday.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
