About the role
As we move into a new and exciting era for Construction, we are looking for new Team members to develop and grow with us.
After major investment in “Future Ready” resources and training at Northumberland College we have an opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Skills Development Coach who has knowledge and experience of traditional construction skills but is open to the new opportunities in “Green skills” “Sustainable” and “Retrofit” construction. If these key phrases excite you then this is an opportunity for you to develop and grow in our department.
This role will suit experienced qualified practitioners or someone new to Further Education but who is enthusiastic about moving into this rewarding and exciting sector. In either case you will be fully supported in establishing yourself as part of our team and with any training and development you require to help you meet your potential.
This post will be based out of Ashington however will be expected to travel to visit the employers prior to any placement and undertake Health and Safety checks and risk assessments. Visiting the students on placement is also vital to support both the employer and the student in the work environment.
About the Candidate
The successful candidate will be confident, charismatic and an exemplary communicator. Skills coaches are responsible for student achievement against planned placement hours and as a result, the successful candidate must be able to confidently speak to a range of employers across the sector to develop opportunities for these to be carried out. The successful applicant will possess the ability to support students to achieve their career goals, with high expectations, that enthuse and inspire learners to achieve the best possible outcomes in preparation for their next steps.

Northumberland College is the only college in the county serving, the communities of Northumberland, offering a diverse curriculum offer from Entry level to Level 6, discrete SEND provision and Apprenticeships. We have three campuses from Berwick near the Scottish Border, Ashington and Kirkley Hall, close to Ponteland and in May 2022, Ofsted rated as a Good provider with Outstanding Personal Development, and are the top Performing Land based College in the Northeast.
